Connections to Response to Intervention

Response to Intervention (RTI), also known in California as Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtI²), presents a system for the delivery of prevention, early identification and intervention, problem-solving, data driven decision-making, and supports that focuses on both academic and behavioral issues that benefit every student. RTI’s tiered levels of service delivery are complementary to the Prevention and Intervention (PEI) component of the Mental Health Services Act and provide a framework for the expansion of cross-system collaboration to develop and sustain school-based mental health programs addressing prevention and early identification strategies.
