Program Rating Levels

Resources featured in the K-12 Regional SMHI Clearinghouse are rated using the following criteria:

Rated as Evidence-Based Practice

  • Widely recognized as effective
  • Well supported/validated by research
  • Provides a manual and protocols for implementation
  • Training and consultation available
  • No evidence of harm to recipients, compared to benefits

Rated as Promising Practice

  • Generally accepted as effective (could be by a clearinghouse, local agency or similar local entity)
  • Supported by evidence of effectiveness (local data, limited research, etc.)
  • Provides a manual and protocols for implementation
  • Training and consultation available
  • No evidence of harm to recipients, compared to benefits

Rated as Emerging Practice

  • Evidence of effectiveness of program or practice is limited
  • May be innovative or applicable to particular population or location
  • Provides a manual and/or protocols for implementation
  • Training and consultation available
  • No evidence of harm to recipients, compared to benefits
