Resource Title Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS)
Summary

CBITS is a school-based group and individual intervention used with students in grades 5 - 12 who have witnessed trauma, including homeless youth. Designed to reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and behavioral problems, and to improve functioning, grades, attendance, coping skills and peer and parent support. Delivered in a school setting by mental health staff working in collaboration with education staff, the intervention includes group sessions and individual sessions for students, 2 parent psycho-educational sessions, and a teacher educational session.
